Efficient Drivetrains, Incorporated
In response to the accelerating global demand for ultra-high fuel-efficiency and environmentally friendly vehicles, EDI is delivering significant breakthroughs in vehicle drivetrain technologies which represent the next evolution in conventional and hybrid vehicle designs.
Developed by Dr. Andy Frank in partnership with the University of California, EDI technologies deliver major advancements in fuel economy, reductions in vehicle cost, and overall vehicle performance in Hybrid, Electric, and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). EDI’s objective is to work with car and truck OEM, conversion, and first tier suppliers to embed innovative drivetrain system designs, components, and technologies providing them with access to EDI’s broad patent portfolio and enabling them to build the most efficient vehicles available in the market today.
EDI’s technologies and patent portfolio include fundamental concepts and optimized energy management systems for hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and continuously variable transmissions (CVT). EDI’s technology can also be integrated with the conventional electric energy grid and renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, celluloustic ethanol/BioDiesel, facilitating the transition toward energy sustainability and away from oil, but with no change in our current and foreseeable future energy infrastructure.
